Pastor Bater's Message
Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “This isn’t quite what I had pictured for me and my family?” With the economy tanking and unemployment on the rise, it has become relatively easy to look at our lives and feel less than complete. We live, work, and raise our kids in an imperfect world and it can cause us to wonder: “Is there something more out there?” Jesus said, “I have come that (you) may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). There is more to life than our jobs or our wallet – there’s Jesus.
Prince of Peace is a Bible-based confessional Lutheran Christian church which partakes of and rejoices in having a full life through Jesus Christ. The reason we live in an imperfect world is because it’s filled with imperfect people. At Prince of Peace, we are no exception. We recognize that we are not a perfect church because we’re made up of imperfect people – yes, pastors included! And yet, we have a God who loved us and keeps on loving us still the same. Perhaps you know the passage well: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). In dying on the cross, Jesus paid in full the price required to ‘give us life to the full.’
The love God showed for us in giving his Son, Jesus, is why we exist here at Prince of Peace. We gather week after week to be confronted with our imperfections and to be comforted and strengthened by the perfect love of our Savior. On our part, there is nothing left to be done. The work of giving you a full life was completed by Jesus when he said from the cross: “It is finished!” (John 19:30) Therefore, ‘whoever believes in him (Jesus) will not perish but have eternal life!’ Because we have been freely given eternal life through faith in Jesus, our life on this earth is now full. The question, ‘What’s missing?’ is completely answered by God’s love, peace, and forgiveness for Jesus’ sake.
We want you to experience the joy of God’s free grace as well. We invite you to join us either in worship or at one of our Bible studies and hope that you come, see and hear for yourself what Jesus is all about. With so many religions in the world today, it can be frustrating or even intimidating to look into one. Stop wondering what’s missing in your life and come receive that which makes this life full! We’d love to meet you and freely give you what’s been freely given to us. God’s richest blessings to you in the name of Jesus – who gives us life to the full!
