Jill Peil- Preschool Teacher
I was born and raised in a suburb just outside of Cleveland, OH. I attended one of our synod’s preparatory high schools in Saginaw MI and graduated in 1997. I continued on to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota to pursue a teaching career in our Lutheran elementary schools. In May of 2002, I graduated with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and was called to teach third grade in Waukesha, Wisconsin. A month and a half later, I married my high school sweetheart, Tyler. What a great summer! We lived in the Milwaukee area while Tyler finished his final three years at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary.
In 2005, The Lord blessed us with our first child, Cassandra. I enjoyed staying home and being a mom. In May of 2007, Tyler was called to serve a church congregation in Stanton, Nebraska. What a change from a big city to small town. Again in 2008, the Lord blessed us with twin girls, Chloe and Callie. What a surprise. We loved raising our family in this community. In 2009, I returned to the classroom, this time as a preschool teacher and director at St. John’s Lutheran Church. I was able to be a big part of licensing the facility according to the state standards and regulations. If all these blessings were not enough, in 2012, the Lord blessed us with another baby girl, Kenzie. In the summer of 2017, we said goodbye to the wonderful people in Nebraska and moved to Salt Lake City. My husband was called to serve as one of the Pastors here at Prince of Peace. I was called to serve as preschool teacher in July of 2018. I am so excited to share the love of Jesus with the children and families at Prince of Peace. I love to watch children learn to use the gifts God has given them.
Our family loves to be together. Whether it is water sports, playing games outside, playing board games or watching movies, we just love to be together. We have loved going for walks in the mountains here in SLC.

Desiree Slocum- Extended Care Aide
Hello! My name is Desiree Slocum and I would like to welcome you to our school, Prince of Peace. I have been working with children for many years providing childcare for various Bible Studies and mom's retreats all over the valley. I love every moment the children share with me. I greatly enjoy the arts and music and bringing some of that joy to work–whether it is finding a moment to draw with the children, acquire a new book for the library, or encouraging and participating in imaginative group play. The best part of my day is talking to the children and getting to know them as individuals with all their wonderful personalities.
Like you, I once was looking for a safe, peaceful and positive school in which to enroll my precious child. Other schools were “cold” and expensive. My child was entering kindergarten at the time and after one tour with the school faculty and Pastor, there was no doubt in my mind that I had found a “hidden treasure” with a warm and comfortable sense of community. Prince of Peace represented my Christ-centered core values. My daughter immediately latched on to the warm and friendly staff. She is currently attending Prince of Peace and I cannot imagine being anywhere else. If you are looking for your child to come to school excited, with teachers who provide one-on-one attention, then I invite you to take a tour of our school and discover the hidden treasure for yourself.
