Laura Dietrich

Background:

Ms. Dietrich, a native of Saginaw, Michigan, received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education in 2010 from Martin Luther College. Upon graduation she was assigned to teach 2nd grade and music at Immanuel Lutheran in WI.

While finishing her bachelor's degree at MLC, Laura student-taught 3rd grade at Friedens Lutheran School in Kenosha, WI, and also 2nd grade at Sleepy Eye Elementary School in Sleepy Eye, MN.  Ms. Dietrich loves music and sports, especially enjoying volleyball and soccer, and she plays piano and organ.  She also enjoys traveling, listening to music and spending time in the outdoors.

Laura has recently spent parts of two summers overseas doing volunteer work. In 2012 she spent seven weeks in Malawi through the WELS Kingdom Workers program, teaching computer classes to students at the Lutheran Bible Institute. These pre-seminary students were from Zambia and Malawi and are studying to become pastors in their own countries.

And in the summer of 2013, Laura spent two weeks in Thailand through the Christians Forward Southeast Asia organization.
She visited their campuses that help out underprivileged or disabled kids and people with special needs. She and other volunteers did everything from cleaning and sorting donated clothes to planting banana trees and teaching English using Kinderjam, a program which teaches English through song, dance and movement.

She accepted the call to teach grades 1+2 at Prince of Peace in 2014.
