Classroom News and Notes
Week of March 1st
Reading: We have started our new novel this week, Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson. Our goal for this week is to read Chapters 5-8. Friday is our independent reading day. This will be the last day they will have at school to finish their books. If their book is finished, they will have time to start working on their projects.
Spelling: We will take a pretest today on Unit 24. We will correct our workbook on Thursday. Friday will be the final test.
GUM: We will continue Unit 4 this week. We will touch on adverbs, moods, and voice.
Algebra 1: We will complete lessons 76 - 80 this week. We will have a test on Tuesday and a practice test as homework on Monday.
PreAlgebra: We will complete lessons 73 – 75 this week. We will also have a test on Friday with a practice test as homework on Thursday.
Social Studies: Our students did a fantastic job with their Central American presentations this past week! We learned a lot and also got to practice our public speaking and presentation skills. We will be moving on to South America and will go back to a more traditional unit.
Science: Fungi are out, plants are in. We will dig into the wide world of plants this week and will stay with this theme for quite a while!
