Encouragement from God's Word

Helping Your Child Feel Safe

Though they may express it in different ways, our children feel the stress of these times. We hold tight to the certain hope we have in Jesus and want to help them do the same. Here are some resources to help your little one(s):

Suggestions for Parents of Young Children – This article from our church body’s website addresses ways to help the youngest at home. The article is written by the leader of our synod’s early childhood education program.

Keep Calm and Trust God – Ideas from a licensed Christian counselor about helping your child and family cope with the unknown. For more information on using the counseling services offered through them, please speak with one our pastors.

Growing in the Word as a Family

During these uncertain times, it is important to stay rooted in and dig deeper into the Word. Here are some ideas of how to do this as a family.

Prince of Peace Worship Services – Go to the Prince of Peace website www.popslc.org or the Prince of Peace Facebook page www.facebook.com/PrinceOfPeaceLutheranSLC for services streamed live as well as a daily prayer devotion with Pastor Peil.

For other online worship opportunities go to WELS News YouTube Channel where you will find services, devotions, and Bible studies posted from several of our sister churches.

My Devotions for Young Children – A printable PDF of a devotion booklet for the spring season to read and discuss with your family.

Christian Worship (our hymnal) – For ideas on how to use the hymnal as a devotional resource watch this video. If you do not have a hymnal at home, let us know and we can help you borrow one from church. You may also  purchase one for half price at our synod’s bookstore. To download selected hymns and accompaniment for free, click here.

Helping Your Child Grow in Faith

As we grow as a family in the Word, it is also important to help your child build a firm foundation, which means finding ways to reach them at their level and build their faith foundation on the Bible lessons that show how great our God is and how he continually keeps his promises. Some resources for that:

Sunday School materials – You can download these Sunday School materials to give you ideas on how to share Bible lessons with your child.

Coloring/Activity Sheets – You can use these printable sheets to read through a Bible lesson with your child and have them complete it.

Kids Connection – These videos share some things children are doing to share Jesus’ love with others as well as devotion.

Growing as the Leader

Grown-ups, you set the tone for your household and for the lives of your children. It is just as important that you set aside time for self-care in all areas, but especially spiritually. Here are some ideas for that:

www.raisedwithJesus.com – Here you can find a daily podcast, links to sermons, and under “virtual church” several other resources for you and your family to grow in the Word.

www.breadforbeggars.com – This site offers devotions, podcasts, blogs, and more for you to grow.

www.holyhenhouse.com – This site offers a blog and printable Bible studies (for a small cost) specifically geared for women.

www.nph.net – If you prefer to grow via hard copy books, this is our church body’s publishing house you can order books from.

www.timeofgrace.org – Time of Grace features a weekly TV broadcast of an encouraging message from God’s Word. There are also tons of short, devotional videos and other resources.
